40% of Meerut schools fail to provide data on daily attendance of teachers

Meerut: Nearly 40% of schools in Meerut have not been providing data to the state government on daily attendance of teachers and students through interactive voice response system (IVRS). This came to light recently after the Meerut divisional assistant education director wrote to basic shiksha adhikaris in this regard. Meerut district has 1,570 schools out of which 604 schools have not been providing data to the higher authorities. These schools have now been instructed to follow the orders or face action.
“All basic shiksha adhikaris are instructed to take note of a previous letter in which instructions were given to inform the government about the attendance of teachers as well as students on a daily basis via IVRS. In a recent check, it has come to light that a large number of schools are still not following the order,” read the order issued by Ashok Kumar Singh, divisional assistant education director, Meerut.
Out of 1,570 schools in Meerut, only 966 schools provided data on a regular basis. Interestingly, in Saharanpur, not a single school out of 2,078 institutes provided the data.
“It should be noted that this data is being checked on a regular basis at the Chief Minister office and laxity of any kind will not be tolerated. If the pending data is not recorded via IVRS, action will be taken against the concerned school principals,” read the order.
