Moment of cricket glory and diplomacy The high-voltage suspense that gripped both Indians and Pakistanis alike over the outcome of the World Cup cricket semifinal being played between the two countries at Mohali on March 30 ended with India’s 29-run victory over Pakistan. While Indians everywhere celebrated their victory, Pakistanis mourned their defeat.

The match also assumed political significance as India’s Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh used it as a cricket diplomacy.  Dr. Singh, who invited the two top leaders of  Pakistan, was joined by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in watching the two teams in action.
