Mumbai: Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications on April 27 announced a strategic alliance with US-based GetJar, the world’s second-largest app store to avail over 65,000 free mobile applications for R-Com’s over 100-million subscribers.
“According to this alliance, GetJar will offer Reliance Communications its extensive catalogue of over 65,000 free mobile applications,” a press release said on April 27.
Reliance Communications’ over 100-million subscribers will gain immediate access to GetJar’s massive library of applications via a GetJar apps store through RCOM’s VAS platform R-World. GetJar will also enable RCOM to offer its Apps Store to a large bandwidth of mobile handsets across multiple brands and not remain restricted to a few high-end smart phones, the release said.
With over 300 percent growth year-on-year, GetJar averages nearly two-million downloads a day, globally, the release said.
