Rahul Gandhi to travel to Singapore and Malaysia from March 8-10

New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi will on March 6 leave for a two-nation tour to Singapore and Malaysia in an attempt to reach out to the Indian diaspora there.
During the three-day trip from March 8 to 10, Gandhi will also “meet young professionals and visit universities”, reported news agency ANI.
He will be in Singapore on March 8 and 9, and will then travel to Malaysia.
The Congress chief recently returned from a trip to Italy, where he was visiting his 93-year-old maternal grandmother.
He was mocked for the timing of his European trip, which coincided with the results of elections in the three northeastern states of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya.
BJP president Amit Shah took a veiled dig at Gandhi, saying that elections are ongoing in the European country.
“Mujhe WhatsApp pe message aaya hai ki Italy mein chunaav hai (I received a message on WhatsApp that elections are currently on in Italy),” said Shah.
Union minister Giriraj Singh, too, declared Gandhi a “master election strategist” – purportedly for leaving the country at a time when election results were due.
“Rahul Gandhi is a master election strategist..he knows when to run away from India now,” he had said.
Congress leader Ahmed Patel hit out at Singh, demanding to know if it was a “crime for someone to visit his own grandmother.”
