Cincinnati, OH: Vivek Ramaswamy’s rapidly rising fortune has become a major talking point in the Ohio governor’s race, with Forbes estimating the 41-year-old Republican candidate’s net worth at $2.3 billion.

According to Forbes, Ramaswamy’s wealth has more than doubled from approximately $1 billion in March 2025 and increased from an estimated $1.8 billion a year ago. If he is elected governor of Ohio in November, Forbes estimates that he would become the second-wealthiest governor in the United States and the third-wealthiest elected official in the country, behind President Donald Trump and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

The principal source of Ramaswamy’s fortune is Roivant Sciences, the biopharmaceutical company he founded in 2014 and later took public through a special-purpose acquisition company in 2021. Roivant shares have risen sharply, reaching about $40 and giving the company an estimated market value of $29 billion. Forbes reported that the stock has gained roughly 85 percent since the beginning of 2026 and nearly quadrupled over two years. Positive clinical-trial developments involving brepocitinib and the Food and Drug Administration’s August approval of Lisraya were among factors cited in the company’s rise.

Ramaswamy has also been selling portions of his Roivant holdings while campaigning. Forbes reported approximately $106 million in disclosed stock sales in November and December last year, followed by roughly $400 million in sales during the first quarter of 2026. Based on a similar pace during subsequent quarters, Forbes estimated that his total Roivant stock sales could reach about $1.2 billion over a 12-month period.

His business interests extend beyond Roivant. Ramaswamy holds an estimated $130 million stake in Chapter, a Medicare-navigation company he co-founded in 2020. Chapter raised $100 million this year at a $3 billion valuation, twice its valuation a year earlier.

Ramaswamy’s wealth has also become an issue on the campaign trail. Democratic nominee Amy Acton has emphasized his billionaire status and private-jet travel while contrasting his lifestyle with the financial pressures facing many Ohio families. Ramaswamy has responded by embracing his entrepreneurial background and saying he built his fortune himself.

His rise adds another chapter to the growing presence of Indian Americans in American business, technology, medicine and politics.
