Schaumburg, IL: National India Hub hosted a successful community farewell for Somnath Ghosh, Consul General of India in Chicago, on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Organized with approximately one day’s notice, the event brought together more than 250 members of the Indian diaspora representing 55 organizations, including all major community organizations, community leaders, physicians, and healthcare leaders from across the region.

The overwhelming response demonstrated the lasting impact Consul General Ghosh has made through his accessibility, leadership, and active involvement from the very day he arrived in Chicago. It also reflected the widespread trust, respect, and affection National India Hub has earned through its unbiased and inclusive service to the entire community.

Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, former Secretary for Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Mrs. Farha Sayeed joined CG Somnath Ghosh and Mrs. Anandita Ghosh on stage throughout the program. Their presence added special significance and dignity to the memorable evening. Also in attendance were Deputy Consul General Kriti Das and Consul Sanjeev Pal, who accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ghosh at the farewell program.

Every participating organization was given an opportunity to come on stage, personally recognize Consul General Ghosh, and express its gratitude. Community representatives consistently praised him for remaining closely connected with the people and actively participating in community initiatives throughout his tenure.

In his remarks, Mr. Ghosh emphasized the strength and accomplishments of the Indian diaspora across every field. He encouraged the community to continue making a positive impact without borders in the great United States of America. He recognized National India Hub as a highly successful example, highlighting its distinction as the world’s largest Indian community center, its expansive facility, and its unbiased commitment to supporting and serving the entire community.

Healthcare representation was led by Dr. Mehar Medavaram and Dr. Vemuri Murthy, representing AAPI, IAMA, and National India Hub Community Health and CPR Training.

The program was successfully organized and executed by the entire National India Hub team under the leadership of the Founder Harish Kolasani and COO Sireesha Tipparaju, with the enthusiastic support of the entire community. Harish Kolasani and Keerthi Ravoori jointly emceed the evening, bringing a personal and emotional touch that made the experience more meaningful for everyone in attendance. The program proceeded smoothly, remained engaging throughout, and ensured that every organization felt included and recognized.

A delicious dinner was fully sponsored and served by Haribhai Patel and his entire Bharatiya Senior Citizens of Chicago team, an integral part of the National India Hub community.

The success of this farewell was ultimately a celebration of community unity. Bringing together 55 organizations and more than 250 people within a single day, especially on a Monday evening, was a powerful testament to the respect Shri Somnath Ghosh has earned and to National India Hub’s unique ability to bring the community together without boundaries or bias.

The evening concluded with heartfelt gratitude for Consul General Ghosh’s exceptional service, leadership, and lasting legacy, along with the community’s warmest wishes to him and his family as they begin their next chapter.
