Palatine, IL: Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) (www.PCSChicago.org) Officials formed their working board for the year 2019. PCS is an all volunteer non-profit community service organization which aims to promote Punjabi Culture within the Indian community and also share it with the mainstream Americans.
Gurdeep Singh Nandra an electronic engineer and a Motorola Project Manager from local Punjabi community was selected as the Honorary Chairman of PCS for 2019. Giving back to the community is a passion that runs in the Nandra family. The Nandras volunteer with various organizations in Chicagoland.
Bikram Singh Chohan is 27 years old, born and raised in Chicago was named PCS president for 2019. Bikram grew up participating and attending PCS events and joined the PCS Executive Board over 5 years ago. Bikram graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelors in Economics and a minor in Finance. Bikram is a Senior Business Analyst for Oak Point Partners, a private investment firm. Bikram is PCS’s second youngest president and looks forward to working with the Punjabi Community for PCS’s 25th anniversary year.
Other directors on the 2019 PCS board as elected are, Vick Singh Vice President, Parvinder Singh Nanua Executive Secretary, Manjeet Singh Bhalla Finance Secretary, Bhupinder Singh Dhaliwal, Bikram Singh Sohi, Gurlal Singh Bhattal, Joti Parmar, and Navtej Singh Sohi.
Upcoming activities of PCS include PCS open house on Sunday January 20 at S.R.S. Community Center, 1250 Deer Ave., Palatine, to register to join in Bhangra or Giddha teams for Rangla Punjab 2019. The Bhangra and Giddha practices start on January 27 at Palatine Park District, 250 E. Wood Street Palatine, and SRS Community Center Palatine. The “Rangla Punjab 2019” event is on Saturday April 6, 2019, 7 PM at College of DuPage Auditorium, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60008.
