Padmavati: Rajput Karni Sena destroys ‘rangoli,’ threatens further disruption

New Delhi: Members of a Rajput organization on October 16 rubbed out a ‘rangoli’ – or artwork – created at a Surat mall for the promotion of the film Padmavati, and threatened further disruption.
“We removed the rangoli created for the movie Padmavati at Rahul Raj Mall in protest. The owner of the mall cooperated with us and apologized,” ANI quoted a member of the Rajput Karni Sena as saying.
The group warned that if the film releases while protests continue, “even the authorities won’t be able to stop us.”
The artist of the rangoli, a man called Karan, expressed his disappointment at what had transpired.
“What happened was bad. It was my hard work, I spent three days on it. The group barged in and ruined the rangoli while shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’,” he said.
