New Delhi: Asher Noria won the double trap gold by equalling the junior World re-cord of 146 in the 50th World shooting championship in Munich on August 5.
The 17-year-old Hyderabad lad established his roaring form, even as the senior Indian shooters struggled, as he came up with a series of 49, 49 and 48. His effort equalled the World junior record set by William Chetcuti in the European championship in Nicosia, Cyprus, in 2004.
Noria’s show was just one short of the world record of 147 among men. On a day when world record holder Ronjan Sodhi finished 23rd with a score of 139, following rounds of 42, 48 and 49, Noria was able to establish his class in a field of 18.
