Mehroonisa, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s mother who features in 100 inspirational women list

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s mother, Mehroonisa Siddiqui, has featured in top 100 inspirational and innovative women list of 2017 prepared by the BBC.
The annual list is a step to support women throughout the world who speak for the welfare of other women. This year’s list has only 60 names so far, but the rest 40 names will be filled soon.
These women have fought against harassment, injustice and inequality in various parts of the world and in various fields.
The list has been divided into four parts — the glass ceiling, female illiteracy, street harassment and sexism in sport – and will look at the changes made by these names.
However, Mehroonisa Siddiqui isn’t the only name from India. Slam poet Rupi Kaur, entrepreneur Aditi Avasthi, writer Ira Trivedi and cricketer Mithali Raj are also on the list. Healthcare entrepreneur Nitya Thummalachetty, student Priyanka Roy and teacher Tulika Kiran also feature among the 100 influential women.
The last two Indian women in this list are social entrepreneur Urvashi Sahni and disability activist Virali Modi.
The series focusing on their work in detail will start in October.
