'Maxi'-mum effect

By Jasleen Kaur Gupta
Maxi dresses are as essential as the L.B.D in your wardrobe. There’s one to fit every body type and personality. We help you pick yours

Petite: If you are small built and not very tall, a maxi-dress in small prints, bright colors and tube styles is certain to suit you. Try and stay away from one solid color. Delicate fabrics like chiffons and crepes, sheer materials are for you. Try to wear a single length like an empire cut (without tiers), silhouettes that don’t have an elastic on the waist or under the bust. This will give you length.

Tall and broad; If you are leggy lass with broad shoulders, maxi-dresses are completely flattering on you. If your shoulders are too broad you might want to stay away from tube styles and try sleeveless or tie up styles. Even halters and backless designs will suit you. Wear a solid color if you want to appear thinner.

Hourglass: If you have the perfectly proportionate body then show it off in jersey materials or lycra mix fabrics that are snug on the body and show of curves beautifully. Wear V necks to appear taller and thinner.

Pleasantly plump: Wear a dark color in a fabric that falls well. A-line styles with pleats and draped styles are great ways to distract from problem areas as well. Try long sashes, front drapes, toga styles, sari drape styles will all flatter your body type.
