Ahmedabad, Jun 16 : LG Electronics India Private Limited (LGEIL) today launched two new youth-centric handsets ‘LG Cookie Fresh’ and ‘LG Cookie Plus’, bundled with one-touch social networking powered by an SNS widget on home screen and 3G technologies.
Talking to mediapersons here, Sudhin Mathur, Business Head (mobile communication) of LGEIL, said ‘We are targetting youth between the age group of 18 and 25 years for this new range, which is expected to contribute 20 per cent from this category of phones.
Currently, the estimated GSM market size is 100 million units. LG enjoys around nine per cent market share and is expecting to have a 15 per cent share this year, he said.
He said the company intends to launch 44 new models this year, out of which 22 phones have already been launched so far. The models ranging from entry level to 3G touch phones, will include 14 youth-centric phones.
Mr Mathur said LG Electronics has signed on Bollywood actors John Abraham, Abhay Deol and Genelia D’Souza as brand ambassadors for its mobile phone range.
”They are youth icons. Having established ourselves in the field of innovation and design. LG Mobiles is now poised to scale new heights,” he added.
