Washington DC, May 28 (INN): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday met members of the American corporate sector wherein they discussed Covid-19 assistance being carried out by US businesses.
“Minister Jaishankar was briefed on United States companies ongoing support to assist Covid-19 relief efforts in India, vaccine access and further ways to build healthcare infrastructure together,” US India Business Council said in a tweet.
The meeting organized by USIBC, which is part of US Chambers of Commerce, was described as a “productive” one.
On the same day, the EAM also met with the members of US-India Strategic Partnership Forum and engaged on pandemic support and economic recovery. He appreciated the US private sector’s swift response in India’s fight against the pandemic.
The discussion emphasized India’s healthcare partnerships and the importance of India US collaborations, which would strengthen supply chains for vaccine and essential medical products in India.
EAM Jaishankar highlighted that the presence and support of Chief Executive Officers from a wide range of sectors demonstrates the extraordinary strength of the India US partnership.
He arrived in Washington DC on Wednesday, as part of India’s first Cabinet-level visit to the US.
During his four-day stay here, Jaishankar is also scheduled to meet his American counterpart Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin along with other key members of the Biden administration.
On Wednesday night, among others, he had a meeting with Congressman Brad Sherman, Co-Chair of House India Caucus.
