Chicago, May 25: FIA-Chicago proudly represented Bharat at the Memorial Day Parade in Arlington Heights, a community known for its deep patriotism and sacrifice, having lost 67 local heroes in service to the nation.
Memorial Day stands as a solemn occasion to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect freedom and safeguard the future of generations to come. It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and tribute to those whose courage and dedication continue to inspire communities across the nation. Beyond being a holiday weekend, Memorial Day serves as a reminder that the sacrifices of fallen heroes should never be forgotten, as history teaches invaluable lessons through their service and valor.
Leading the Indian community at the parade, FIA-Chicago was joined by several prominent community leaders and representatives. Among them were FIA President and Founder & President of the Sanatan Ecosystem, Hemant Patel; FIA Trustee Rakesh Malhotra from Sewa International and Global Indian Diaspora; Rajendra Thakkar from Shree Jalaram Mandir; Dipali Sawant and her team from Maharashtra Mandal; FIA Executive and OF-BJP Coordinator Amar Upadhyay; entrepreneur Sanjay Vora representing Ekal Vidyalaya and Vishva Hindu Parishad of America; FIA Executive Anil Singh representing Karni Sena; FIA Executive Yashaswini Desai from the Hindu Women Network; along with community leaders Yogesh Patel, Kishor Vora, and Dixit Vora.
A major highlight of the event was the participation of Indian Army Brigadier Navin Ahuja and Indian Army veteran Arvind Ankleshwaria from Shree Hanuman Mandir, who is also an FIA Executive. Their proud march alongside FIA-Chicago became a moment of immense pride and emotion for the Bharatiya community. During the ceremony, they were honored by the parade organizing committee together with active and retired service officials in remembrance of the nation’s fallen heroes.
The recognition of Indian Army veterans at such a significant American patriotic event reflected the shared values of courage, sacrifice, and service between the two nations. FIA-Chicago was widely appreciated for bringing Indian veterans to participate in the parade, strengthening cultural unity while paying heartfelt tribute to those who gave their lives in defense of freedom.
