Mumbai: Deepika Padukone is quite popular on social media and already racing ahead of many of her contemporaries like Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif on Instagram. But it seems, Deepika leads the race on Twitter too. She is not only on the list of ‘Most Followed Indians Of The Year’ on Twitter but in fact, is the only Indian actress making it to this list of big names comprising of – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Hrithik Roshan and Virat Kohli. Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to be the most followed Indian on Twitter even as the growth in his follower base at 52 percent was lower than that of Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, according to the microblogging site. As per a Twitter report capturing trends in 2017, Modi saw his follower base increasing by 52 percent to 37.5 million (as of December 4), from 24.6 million in 2016. According to a roundup of the most followed Indians on the microblogging site, Deepika has been declared as Indian actress with maximum followers on Twitter. With a following of 22.1 million, Deepika stood seventh on the list, leaving behind Sachin Tendulkar, Hrithik Roshan and Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, it is interesting to see DP being ahead of Priyanka, who has certainly managed to be a global star with her Hollywood appearances. Well, we wonder if it just her huge fan following or has she managed to gain more followers in due course of her controversial film, Padmavati being embroiled in controversy. Meanwhile, Priyanka is just a million followers away from Deepika so there might be a day when PeeCee dethrone our ‘Rani Padmavati’.
