Box-office: Jolly LLB 2 beats Raees, Kaabil fair and square on 1st Monday numbers

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar has extended his phenomenal run at the box-office in 2016 onto 2017 and how!

The superstar’s first release this year, Subhash Kapoor’s ‘Jolly LLB 2,’ had a 50 crore opening weekend, and the terrific word of mouth and critical reviews have ensured that the film is all set to be his fourth consecutive 100-crore film.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film grossed approximately 13.20 crore rupees on Friday, 17.31 crore rupees on Saturday and a phenomenal 19.95 crore rupees on Sunday.

However, it’s the Monday-test that the film has really performed well in.

The film grossed a spectacular 7.26 crore rupees approximately, beating the first Monday collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’. This has taken the film’s four day total to 57.72 crore rupees approximately.

‘Raees’ and ‘Kaabil’ had clashed on January 25, culminating in a very ugly public exchange of words between the two camps.

However, according to boxofficeindia.com, ‘Raees’ shockingly managed a mere 6 crore rupees (approx.), despite its humongous hype, against a 4 crore gross (approx.) by ‘Kaabil’.

With the current stats, ‘Jolly LLB 2,’ has beaten the two films fair and square, when it comes to sustainability.

The film also stars Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Sayani Gupta and Kumud Mishra.
