Bookies expect to net Rs. 500 cr.

Mumbai: Mumbai’s bookies expect to make huge profits in the Fifa World Cup which begins this weekend, estimating that business might touch Rs. 400-500 crore.

A bonus, they feel, is that the match timing will help Indian viewers.

According to the bookies, the reason for the business is the match timing, which will be conducive for Indian viewers.

“The World Cup held in South Africa will be televised live at 5:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in India, which is after office timing. We are sure that it will attract a lot of Indian viewers,” said a city-based bookie.
