BJP’s stand on Kashmir and Article 370

By Chandrakant Pancholi

New York: Why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is suddenly remembering removal of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution now, when it did no do such a thing when it was in power during 1998-2004?

BJP’s excuse is that their coalition partners would not have agreed. So what? Why they would not put the resolution to remove a Article 370 and lose the power, if they believed in principles? Then, BJP could have gone for reelection urging people to give them absolute majority to solve the Kashmir issue.

India is still bleeding from Nehru’s mistake. We had a real chance to reclaim the Pak-Occupied Kashmir during September 1965 war in Lal Bahadur Shastri’s time, when Indian Army was sitting near Lahore occupying 1800km  (710 miles) of Pakistani Territory.

India could have negotiated that Pakistan vacate occupied Kashmir and we will leave occupied part of Punjab? Or else, just sit there as Pakistan had no other choice.
