Asian Games 2018: India wins gold in Women’s 4x400m relay, men’s team gets silver

Jakarta: India’s 4x400m women’s relay team clinched its fifth consecutive gold medal in the Asian Games to maintain a remarkable domination in this event in the continental showpiece.
The Indian women’s quartet of Hima Das, M R Poovamma, Saritaben Gayakwad and Vismaya Velluva Koroth ran 3 minute and 28.72 seconds to claim the gold.
Bahrain (3:30.61) and Vietnam (3:33.23) took the silver and bronze respectively.
India has been winning the gold in this event since 2002 Asian Games.
Silver for men’s team
India clinched the silver medal in the men’s 4X400 metre event at the 18th Asian Games here on August 30.
The Indian quartet of Muhammed Kunhu, Dharun Ayyasamy, Muhammed Anas and Rajiv Arokia clocked a time of 3 minutes and 1.85 seconds.
Qatar created a new Asian record of 3:00.56 to win the gold while Japan finished the race in 3:01.94 to bag the bronze medal.
