Mumbai: Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit have redefined sensuality while romancing on iconic song “Dhak Dhak” from Beta. For those, who have been fans of the sizzling chemistry are in for a treat as the two actors are set to return together, sharing the screen space after more than 20 years. The icing on the cake is the person bringing them back is the same man, who directed them in the 1992 hit film, Indra Kumar who will direct them in Total Dhamaal. This will be the third film in the Dhamaal franchise. The film will also star Ajay Devgn in the lead role, apart from its original cast of Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaffery
Sharing his excitement about the project, Indra Kumar told indianexpress.com, “They both loved the script. I am extremely excited about shooting with Anil, Madhuri and Ajay. I also have my favorite Riteish (Deshmukh), Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaffery. It is a dream cast. I am grateful to all the actors for being a part of the film.”
The comedy will go on floors next January. When asked if it required him a lot of persuasion to get Madhuri on board considering she is choosy about projects, Kumar said that she immediately said yes as she loved the script.
“Madhuri was not apprehensive at all. I called her, saying I wanted to narrate the script and when she heard it, she loved it. I didn’t have to convince her at all. The script was enough.” The actor, whose last few films have been content driven and of a serious nature, will be seen doing a comedy after a long time. Excited about directing her in this genre, Kumar said, “Madhuri is brilliant in comedy. I have made her do it in all my films, whether it is Beta or Dil. So, it will be great to have her do something like that again.”
Sanjay Dutt, who was a part of both the previous installments, turned out Total Dhamaal apparently because he found it too bold for his liking. When asked if he had to make changes in the script before pitching it to other actors, the director denied, adding he didn’t understand the problem Sanjay had with the script.
“There was no boldness in the script. Dhamaal is a family entertainer. It is a kind of a franchise, which is for kids and families. So, I don’t really understand what Sanju felt. Total Dhamaal is closer to the first part of the franchise (in terms of sensibilities).”
