’84 mein hua to hua’: Sam Pitroda’s insensitive remark about anti-Sikh riots, draws ire from Twitter

New Delhi: Sam Pitroda, Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s closest aide, has made a rather shocking and insensitive remark about the 1984 Sikh riots. This remark comes at a point when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made corruption during the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure as the prime point of 2019 Lok Sabha election.
When asked by a journalist about HS Phoolka’s pointed allegation that instructions for killing Sikhs came directly from then PM Rajiv Gandhi’s office, a visibly agitated Sam Pitroda denied all allegations. Then he went onto to a full-fledged rant against PM Modi, BJP and media too. But in that process, Sam Pitroda who has earlier too made several callous remarks said, ’84 mein hua to hua.
Here is the full quote: “Ab kya hai ’84 ka? Aapne kya kiya 5 saal mein, uski baat kariye. ’84 mein hua to hua. Aapne kya kiya? You were voted to create jobs. You were voted to create 200 smart cities. Aapne wo bhi nahi kiya. Aapne kuch nahi kiya isliye aap yahan wahan gup lagate hain.” (Now what is in 84? Why don’t you talk about what happened in the last 5 years? Whatever happened in 84 happened, What did you do?)
BJP President Amit Shah and several Indian twitter users have condemned the insensitive remarks made by Sam Pitroda on the 1984 Sikh Riots.
