Why are we holding talks with Pak?

We have enough evidence to know that India and Pakistan’s bilateral talks is an exercise in futility: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi all speak in different voices; Pakistan’s policy has always been to nurture and use terror groups to destabilize India; While Pakistan harbors groups that are spreading mayhem the world over, it also extends help to the US in Afghanistan — obviously their motive is to try and take control of the North-West Frontier Province; Pakistan is facing serious internal turbulence with Islamic militant groups striking at will. Why then are we negotiating with a country that is in no position to arrive at any consensus internally?
