Gandhinagar: The Ahmeda-bad-based Sai InfoSystem (India) Limited (SIS), India’s third largest IT solution provider, has won the prestigious National Telecom Award for innovation in fixed line services for the year 2010.
Sunil Kakkad, chairman and managing director of SIS, received the award at a glittering function held recently in New Delhi. The prestigious award was presented by P. J. Thomas, Secretary, Depart-ment of Telecommunications, along with Dr. J.S. Sharma, Chairman, Telecom Regu-latory of India (TRAI). The other winners under various categories, included BSNL, MTNL, Reliance and Bharti.
Giving information on the achievement of his company, Sunil Kakkad told media persons in Ahmedabad on June 1 that the “Award vindicates our sincere efforts to maximize utilization and return on investment of fixed line services through innovation. We will constantly strive to convert technology in a user-friendly application and will deploy it for day-to-day use.” He said that the company is investing in downstream innovations and development of world class video phones, high definition phones, switching software as well as next generation network software to offer superior video and voice calling service over IP.
Sunil Kakkad said: “Incidentally the award comes at a time when the SIS group has crossed a turnover of Rs. 1,000 crore from its system integration, manufacturing, retail and other IT services. Today, we have the technology to enable any wire line telco or ISP network in the world with next generation Video Telephony capability. Various major Telcos have approached us for offering our products and solutions to their customers and soon you will come across more than one service providers who will be offering Video Telephony Services,” he added.
Kirit Joshi, senior vice-president of SIS, said the company has been ranked seventh all India this year from 15th last year by DQ Channels as an “IT company providing complete solution” in India and has many innovative solutions as well as achievements under its belt. “The company is one of the four ESAA (Enabled Server Acceleration Alliance) partners of Intel in India, besides being one of the 20 Star partners of Microsoft and the largest call center solution provider to BSNL,” he added.
The SIS also unveiled various models of its Video Telephones as well as high definition IP phones at the venue of the press conference. According to the SIS, these equipment are connectivity independent, and any Internet service provider in the country will be in a position to offer Video Telephony Services by providing these equipment to their customers.
