Relay fasts in Telangana


Hyderabad: Demanding the introduction of a Telangana Bill in the forthcoming Budget Session of Parliament, activists fighting for separate statehood began relay fasts across the disputed region as part of intensified agitations.

The relay fasts were launched on January 21, by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party following the call given by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee.

Thousands of activists from the two parties pledging to step up their agitation until a separate Telangana state is achieved, with TPJAC convener Prof. Kodandaram leading the way.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy left for New Delhi on a two-day trip to confer with the Congress  leadership on the Telangana issue, ahead of the all-party meeting.
