PV Sindhu defeats Sun Yu, reaches semifinal of BWF World Championship

Glasgow: India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu on August 25 advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing BWF World Badminton Championship held here. Sindhu defeated Chinese shuttler Sun Yu 21-14, 21-9 to ease through to the last four of the tournament.
With this win, the 22-year old Hyderabadi has assured India of at least a bronze medal in the tournament.
It was the Indian all throughout the match as she took an 8-4 lead in the first set, and eventually went on to take the game 21-14 in just 19 minutes.
The second game, too, was dominated by Sindhu, as she took an early 4-0 lead, and went on to seal the match 21-9. Earlier in the match, it was unforced errors from her Chinese opponent that gave Sindhu the advantage and seal a comfortable win.
Earlier in the day, Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the tournament after suffering a shock defeat to top seed Son Wan Ho of South Korea, who won the match 21-1 21-18.
PV Sindhu will now face defending junior world champion Chen Yufei in the semifinal.
