Hyderabad, June 1 — In a dazzling celebration of beauty, purpose, and global unity, Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 at the glittering grand finale of the 72nd Miss World pageant held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana on May 31. Making history as the first-ever Miss World from Thailand, Opal emerged victorious among 108 contestants representing countries from around the globe.

The event marked a powerful conclusion to a month-long Miss World Festival across Telangana, transforming the state into a vibrant stage for cultural exchange, philanthropic engagement, and international camaraderie. This was India’s third time hosting the Miss World pageant, after previous editions in 1996 and 2024, and the first time it was held in Telangana.

Opal received her crown from Krystyna Pyszková of Czechia, the 71st Miss World, in an emotional and electrifying coronation moment met with thunderous applause. The new Miss World stood radiant on stage, embodying the values of compassion, confidence, and purpose. Her winning mantra, “Be the person that someone or the other will look up to,” captured hearts around the world and reflected the spirit of the evening.

Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was named first runner-up. India’s Nandini Gupta impressed by reaching the final 20. The competition began with the introduction of all 108 delegates, followed by the announcement of the Top 40 quarterfinalists, selected from the regions of Africa, the Americas & Caribbean, Europe, and Asia & Oceania.

The finale was hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian television presenter Sachiin Kumbhar, blending global charm with local flair. The night also featured vibrant performances by Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter, adding glamour and excitement to the grand event.

Opal also triumphed in the contest’s digital and multimedia categories, topping the contestant app leaderboard with over 2.3 million views—further highlighting her global appeal and digital impact.

The evening went beyond beauty, celebrating intelligence, social advocacy, and humanitarian commitment. Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood was honoured with the Miss World Humanitarian Award for his unwavering service to millions across India and beyond. Philanthropist and entrepreneur Sudha Reddy, who previously hosted the Beauty With a Purpose Gala Dinner, was named the Global Ambassador for Beauty With a Purpose. Also present was Miss World 2017 and Bollywood actress Manushi Chhillar, whose words and journey inspired many in the audience.

Six Indian women have previously won the Miss World crown: Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and Manushi Chhillar (2017).

The 72nd Miss World pageant was a vibrant, purpose-driven celebration of womanhood, resilience, and hope—a night that will be remembered for years to come.
