Washington DC: The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated in Washington D.C. with a flag-hoisting ceremony on August 15, 2025 at India House. The ceremony was attended by a number of Indians, diaspora members, students and friends of India. 

 Ambassador of India to the United States, Shri Vinay Kwatra addressed the gathering and highlighted the Hon’ble President’s address delivered to the nation on the eve of the independence day.

A cultural program with the participation of Indian diaspora children was organized to celebrate the day. Senior dancers of the Mayur Dance Academy performed a classical Odissi dance. Students of the Gandharva School of Music performed a medley of patriotic songs for the gathering. Winners of a Painting and Essay Competition organized by the Embassy for children of the Indian community were also felicitated during the celebrations. 

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was commemorated through an exhibition on the history of the tricolor.

New York: Indian Consulate in New York celebrated the 79th Independence Day with Flag hoisting by Consul General Binaya Pradhan, in the presence of elected representatives, members of the Indian community, friends of India, and dignitaries. State Senator Raj Mukherji, graced the event.

The consulate also recognized the outstanding achievements and contributions of the Indian diaspora across diverse fields, felicitating US National Cricket Team players Jasdeep Singh &  Saiteja Mukkammalla, tennis player Samir Banerjee, Brigit co-founder Hamel Kothari, and Kolkata Chai Co. co-founder Ayan Sanyal. The celebration concluded with a graceful Kuchipudi performance and soulful patriotic songs by students of Indian classical music.”

Officials highlighted India’s diverse traditions, with attendees gathering to celebrate the day and witness the landmark flag hoisting.

Chicago: The Consulate General of India in Chicago celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm at the Consulate premises, drawing a large gathering from the Indian diaspora.

Consul General Somnath Ghosh unfurled the Tricolour, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. He then read out the Hon’ble President of India’s address to the nation, delivered on the eve of Independence Day.

Consul General highlighted the unique role of the Indian diaspora as a bridge between the two nations, stressing that shared values of democracy, innovation, and diversity which make India and the United States natural partners. Consul General further highlighted contributions of Indian Americans in technology, healthcare, academia, business, public service, and encouraged collective efforts to build deeper cultural, educational, and economic bonds. 

A brief cultural program added vibrancy to the occasion, featuring a patriotic fusion dance by Team Dancing Petals, a Bharatanatyam performance by Sidhi Tantry, and soulful patriotic songs by children from the Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam.

Over 150 attendees participated in the Consulate’s flag hoisting ceremony and actively engaged in the #HarGharTiranga campaign, proudly taking selfies with the National Flag to express their patriotism.

The celebration concluded on a poignant note with a heartfelt Hindi poem dedicated to the National Flag, recited by distinguished community member Shri Rakesh Malhotra.

Later in the evening of August 15, the Consul General hosted Independence Day reception at the renowned Chicago Cultural Centre, welcoming around 300 attendees, including elected officials, senior government representatives, local dignitaries, and members of the Indian-American community representing business, academic, and artistic fields.

Atlanta: Among the first to mark the historic day was the Consulate General of India in Atlanta, which was illuminated in the vibrant hues of the Indian national flag—saffron, white, and green—symbolizing courage, peace, and growth. In the early hours of August 15, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the consulate, with members of the Indian community attending in large numbers. The Consulate urged Indian-origin families to take part in the Government of India’s "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign by hoisting the national flag at their residences, a symbolic yet powerful act reaffirming a collective commitment to India’s values of freedom, democracy, and unity.

Houston: The Consulate General of India in Houston celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India on August 15, 2025, with a flag-hoisting ceremony, a speech by the President, a Tiranga exhibition, and cultural performances and patriotic fervor that gathered the Indian-American community. 
Consul General D. C. Manjunath hoisted the flag and delivered the President of India's address.

The celebration included patriotic songs and performances reflecting India's cultural heritage. The event also featured a Consular Services Camp to assist the Indian diaspora with their service needs.

Distinguished guests included India's astronauts, representatives from the U.S. State Department, and local elected officials from Houston and Sugar Land. The event underscored the vibrant spirit of national pride and unity of the Indian-American community in Houston.

San Francisco: The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated at the historic Gadar Memorial in San Francisco. Consul General Dr. K. Srikar Reddy hoisted the Tiranga and read out Hon’ble President of India’s Address, highlighting the growing strength of the India–U.S. partnership. The celebrations were enriched by vibrant cultural performances from community children, showcasing India’s rich heritage. The diaspora turned out in full strength, making the occasion even more special.

Seattle, WA: The Consulate General of India, Seattle, in collaboration with the City of Seattle celebrated India's 79th Independence Day with an India Day Parade.

Hosted in Downtown Seattle on Aug. 16, the celebration showcased the rich cultural diversity of all states of India, including their cultural dance performances, along with an India Pavilion that put-on display ODOP (One District One Product) of each state and Union Territory of India.

The celebration featured many dignitaries including the Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, US Congressman Adam Smith, Seattle Port Commissioner Sam Cho, Seattle Parks & Recreation Superintendent/Director A P Diaz, King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci, US Coast Guard’s Northwest District Commander Rear Admiral Arex Avanni, Washington Supreme Court Justice Steven Gonzalez, along with Mayors of Mercer Island, Normandy Park, Sammamish and North Bend.
