Chicago: Under the dynamic leadership of Mina Purohit—renowned TV host, Founder & Director of IndiaTV-USA, and a respected Gujarati film producer—a vibrant new initiative has taken root in the heart of the Windy City. Aptly named Golden Girls of Chicago, this group brings together women who believe in the power of community, compassion, and culture.

Founded with the vision of uplifting and empowering women, the Golden Girls of Chicago is more than a social circle—it’s a movement. The group’s guiding mantra, “Spreading happiness and being helpful to each other,” captures the spirit of camaraderie and kindness that defines its mission. With nearly 50 successful and driven members already on board, the group is growing into a beacon of positivity and shared purpose.

While the group thrives on joyful gatherings and cultural celebrations, it also looks beyond its own circle—to women in need. Inspired by the challenges faced by elderly women in India, particularly single mothers struggling for survival, the Golden Girls have made it their mission to make a meaningful difference.

In honor of Mother's Day and as a tribute to the women who shaped generations, the group has launched a heartfelt initiative called "Maa Tujhe Salaam". Every year in May, members will come together to collect voluntary contributions—not as charity, but as an act of love and responsibility—to support elderly, underserved mothers in India. It is a powerful gesture that bridges continents and generations, connecting their American success to the roots of their Indian heritage.

Mina Purohit believes that when one woman is empowered, she becomes a source of strength for many. That belief pulses at the core of this community. The Golden Girls of Chicago plan monthly meet-ups centered around both American and Indian festivals, blending joy with intention. These celebrations not only deepen their bonds but also reaffirm their shared commitment to personal growth, mutual support, and global sisterhood.

With hearts full of purpose and hands ready to serve, the Golden Girls of Chicago are proving that empowerment begins with empathy—and that the golden years can shine brightest when lit by love and community.
