Mirpur: Pakistan shattered West Indies’ dream for World Cup thrashing them by 10 wickets to storm into the semi-finals at Shere Bangla National stadium on March 23.
Pakistan openers Kamran Akmal (47*) and Mohammad Hafeez (61*), who failed to give a good start early in the tournament, made no mistake after the spinners rattled the Caribbean batting to bundle out them for just 112 runs.
The duo played fiery knocks to pull a thumping victory with 30 overs to spare as West Indies threw no challenge to Pakistan, who finished at top of Group A.
Electing to bat, the Windies collapsed like a pack of card as their batsmen surrendered before Pakistani spinners.
Shahid Afridi, the leading wicket taker in the tournament, added four more wickets to his kitty to wrap up West Indies in just 43.3 overs.
Pakistan now face the winner of the second quarter-finals between India and Australia in the semi-finals.
