Lakme Fashion Week 2010: Surprises and showstoppers!

Lakmé Fashion Week is a jointly organized by Lakmé, the No.1 cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG, the global leader in fashion weeks and event production. LFW has been conceived and created with a vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world.” LFW is organized twice every year. LFW Summer/Resort 2010 held from March 5 to March 9 at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai.

Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2010 started with talented designer Amalraj Sengupta’s bare-chested model unfolding a jhola bag and wearing it as a jacket. It was a day full of surprises with high powered glamour and stunning showstoppers.

Fashion take-aways: Armor and military is hot! The designers depicted this trend by creating armor-like capped sleeves that jutted out.

Tribal trends inspired by Africa will rule summer resort. So, accessories with feather and beads and get wild with animal prints.

It’s the return of color — fuschia, bright yellow, flaming orange, turquoise blue, spring green, coral  and shades of violet. If the color                   rush is too heady, cool off with ivory, grey, beige and black.

The silhouettes are not too fluid but fabrics gracefully fall on the body and so you can chill out on the beach.

Designers Hanrangad Singh and Vijay Balhara debuted with very wearable and feminine collection for women. Anand Bhushan did a deviation from the resort theme and presented an autumn-winter collection instead. Neelanjan Ghosh experimented with deconstruction while Asmita Marwa kept it simple and comfortable with her resort collection. Swapnil Shinde and Narendra Kumar created their vision of the futuristic dressing with edgy clothes, Shantanu and Nikhil designed a very affordable (prices starting from Rs. 500) sportswear line for Adidas. But, it was designer Malini Ramani who stole the day with her uber glamorous luxury resort line called Journey of Love.

Lakme Fashion Week is all about fashion at its best, bringing on the glam quotient and just oozing style.
