International Fashion Week ends in Chennai

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), July 12 : South Indian actress Anupriya was the showstopper on the last day of the International Fashion Week in Chennai, walking down the ramp in a Victorian era designer gown.

The event, which began on July 7, showcased apparels designed by veterans as well as young talents.

During the five-day event, collections of designers like Rahul and Gunjan, Neeta Lulla, Krishna Mehta, Archana Kocchhar, Rehana, Shahid Amir, Niksha Lulla and Masaba Gupta were presented.

Designer dresses for women particularly a range of satin and silk gowns were the main attraction on the last day of the fashion extravaganza.

“This event is a very big opportunity for emerging designers like us to showcase our talent in front of so many people and the media. So I want to thank them for giving us such a good platform which we generally do not get in any other fashion week,” said Nithya, a fashion designer.

“I think Indian fashion is very graceful, very elegant and we should preserve that because I would say every place in the world has their own taste and signature in fashion, so do we. We should preserve that because we are known by that,” said Anupriya.

The fashion Week showcased eight international and 22 Indian fashion designers, with 30 fashion shows featuring over a 100 models.
