India’s first exclusive dog park: for the traveler with paws

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has set up a dog park in the city’s Kondapur area, PTI reported. The civic body developed the park, which is spread over 1.3 acres, at a cost of Rs 1.1 crore, over a year. The area was earlier a dump yard.
“This is the country’s first exclusive and certified dog park,” Zonal Commissioner D. Harichandana told PTI. “There will also be a veterinarian on site, apart from [a] dog trainer [and] protocols for cleaning…free vaccination will be administered to the pets.”
The park also has facilities such as a walking track, off-leash areas, a clinic, dog training and exercise equipment, splash pool, lawns, an amphitheatre and separate enclosures for big and small dogs.
Harichandana said it took them a year to complete the park, and added that she was inspired by similar parks in foreign countries. “As of now it is an exclusive dog park, and we might have a cat corner,” she said.
The park is expected to be inaugurated in the next 10 days.
Telangana’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said in a tweet last week: “The first park in India developed to international standards for pets & pet parents & certified by Kennel Club of India.”
