Indian eves beat Canada 3-2


New Delhi: The Indian women’s hockey team was off to a winning start in a four-Test series against Canada, beating the hosts 3-2 in the first match at Tamanawis Park, Surrey on June 16.

India led 1-0 at half-time after captain Surinder Kaur scored from a penalty corner in the 15th minute.

Ritu Rani (53rd minute) and Rani Rampal (61st minute) were the other goal-scorers for the visiting team. Thea Culley (41st minute) and Robyn Pewdleton (69th minute) reduced the margin of defeat for the hosts.
