We have applied for OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cards at the Indian Consulate in Chicago back in May. Since then I am trying to reach them by e-mails, phone calls, and finally I tried to use faxes with a hope that someone will look at the faxes and will contact me back, but nothing of that short happened.
I tried many times to call at different times at different numbers. Either there is only a recording message or a busy tone for hours together. The OCI line is busy right from 10.00 a.m. and beyond. This morning (October 15), I was on hold by a recording for one hour and 20 minutes and finally got disconnected.
We are planning to travel to India next month and the consulate is holding our passports and OCI cards and we live in North Dakota, 800 miles away from Chicago. It is not possible for me to drive all the way to Chicago to pick up the passports. Because of this anxiety, my blood pressure has gone high.
Hopefully someone in the consulate understands my problem and sends our passports and OCI cards immediately.
