India crush Sri Lanka by 93 runs, lead series 1-0

NEW DELHI: Indian players fired in unison as the hosts defeated Sri Lanka by 93 runs in the first Twenty20 International at the Barabati stadiun in Cuttack on Wednesday. India now lead the three-match series 1-0.
India batsmen put up a big total of 180/3 after sent in to bat, and their bowlers, led by two wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, gave Sri Lanka no chance in their chase. Chahal (4/23) and Yadav (2/18) shared six wickets between them as India bundled out the visitors for 87 in 16 overs.
Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals as their batsmen failed to read both the spinners under the light. After spinners finished their quota of overs, Hardik Pandya (3/29) finished off the Lankan innings in double quick time.
Brief scores: India 180/3 (Lokesh Rahul 61, Mahendra Singh Dhoni 39; Angelo Mathews 1/19) beat Sri Lanka 87 all out in 16 overs (Yuzvendra Chahal 4/23, Hardik Pandya 3/29) by 93 runs.
