One dead in ‘Fish Prasadam’ stampede

Hyderabad: A stampede at the distribution of “Fish Prasadam,” an annual event attracting thousands of asthma patients from different parts of the country, left a person dead and 12 others injured at Rajendranagar here on June 8.

The stampede occurred when hundreds of people, who assembled outside the Katedan sports complex, surged forward when the police opened the main gate in the morning. Those planning to take the ‘fish prasadam’ were waiting at the place from early hours. Several persons mostly aged and suffering from asthma, sustained injuries as everybody rushed towards the counters where the  prasadam was to be distributed.
