New Delhi: A total of 7,650 cases of kidnapping and abduction of children were reported in 2008, 8,945 cases in 2009 and 101,670 cases in 2011, the Lok Sabha was informed on April 24.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh said in a written reply that the data was provided by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
He said the Home Ministry has issued an advisory on missing children on January 31 wherein the states/UTs have been advised on various measures needed to prevent trafficking and trace the children.
