BJP set to form Goa government

Panaji: Bharatiya Janta Party is all set to form new government in Goa. Manohar Parrikar met Goa Governor Mridula Sinha with letters of support to stake claim to form BJP government.

Parrikar said on Sunday that he would become Chief Minister of Goa if the party asks him to do so. “I will do whatever party wants me to do,” he said.

Parrikar, huddled with other BJP leaders led by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at a five star resort on the outskirts of Panaji, confirmed to The Hindu that the party was definitely getting support for government formation in Goa.

Although Mr. Parrikar did not confirm if BJP has got support letters of MGP and two Independents as stated by party spokesperson, but said, the information “will be told to you (media) by Mr. Gadkari.”

Nitin Gadkari said in a press conference later, “BJP has support of 21 MLAs, Parrikar will resign as Defence Minister. Next action will be taken as per party’s constitution.”
