AAP lost deposit in 38 of 39 seats

Panaji: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expected to make a big splash in Goa, but it lost its deposit on all but one of the 39 seats it contested in the state. The sole exception was the Benaulim seat where Royla Fernandes polled 4,182 votes and finished second.

In Punjab, AAP won 20 seats in the Punjab assembly, came second in 26 constituencies while over two dozen AAP candidates lost their security deposit.
Meanwhile, a Congress leader P. Chidambaram on March 13 accused the “BJPof stealing elections in Goa and Manipur.”

“A party that comes second has no right to form the government. BJP stealing elections in Goa and Manipur,” Chidambaram tweeted on March 13.

The comments of the former finance and home minister came after the BJP staked claim to form the government in Goa and Manipur — where it failed to emerge as the single largest party — with the support of smaller parties and some Independents.
