‘Raees’ promotion: Criminal case against Shah Rukh Khan

Jaipur: A criminal case was on February 14 lodged with the Kota GRP against actor Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly causing a “stampede-like situation” at the railway station that left scores of students and others injured on January 24 during the promotion of his film ‘Raees’.

A vendor, Vikram Singh, who was injured in the melee and his cart damaged, had moved an ‘instgasa’ (complaint) in the ACGM Railway Court appealing a case be lodged.

On Monday, ACGM Court Magistrate Atal Singh ordered the Kota GRP to register the FIR in this connection, SHO Ganga Sahai told The Tribune.

A case under Sections 147, 149, 427 and 120 of the IPC, and 145 and 146 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act was registered against the Bollywood actor, the SHO said.

An inquiry will begin soon, he added.

In the FIR, the vendor alleged that as soon as Khan arrived by the train and threw gifts toward his fans, commotion ensued. He claimed that his cart was overturned, goods smashed under feet and he was injured in the melee.

A VIP gate, made of glass, was also smashed due to the rush, the vendor alleged.

Student of coaching institutes went berserk as the actor on a tour to promote his movie made a stopover at Kota railway station on January 24.

Similar scenes were witnessed at the Sawai Madhopur railway station but no one was injured there. Shah Rukh had undertaken a promotional tour on train from Mumbai to Delhi via Kota, Sawai Madhopur.
